Karen Ilvedson, MA, LPCC
In contrast to mainstream approaches to therapy, which focus on teaching skills or challenging a person’s thinking, I emphasize working to understand the deepest emotional-relational-spiritual roots of my client’s psychology. Using techniques including active imagination, narrative therapy, and critical reflection, I help my clients gently face their own wounds and recover what gifts are hiding beneath. The overarching theme of my practice is to promote healing of the soul. It is at this deeper level that lasting, transformative change can occur.
I hold a MA in Transformational Psychology from the University of Philosophical Research and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler Graduate School in Richfield, MN. My Master’s studies emphasized contemporary spirituality, wisdom traditions, Carl Jung, and depth psychology. I am a three-year participant in the Minnesota Seminar for Jungian studies and a member of the International Alchemy Guild.
